Find Your Voice: The Making of a Civil Rights K-12 Curriculum

  • Lewis & Clark South Chapel, Graduate Campus Portland, Oregon (map)

Dr. Maegan Parker Brooks and Dr. Pablo Correa will draw on their collective experience in the production of Fanie Lou Hamer’s America (a documentary project) to talk about how to teach the Civil Rights across the curriculum. Of particular interest to GSEC teacher-candidates will be the discussion of work the speakers did with K-12 teachers in the Mississippi Delta on integrating Fannie Lou Hamer curriculum design, and empowering young people to tell their story using multimedia.
